FEATURED BOOK The Greatest Love Story Every Told by Suzy K Quinn This book was recommended to me by a newsletter reader and I’m so very glad she did. It is not a typical book I would search for myself nor one I would have been drawn to initially but a pleasant surprise. Callum is a precocious nine-year-old who lives with his young mother and grandparents in their pub. The author is British so we get a lot of over-the-pond quips and humor. It’s a touching story of a man who is doing a doctoral study on toxic masculinity when a child is not raised in a home with a father. He uses Callum as a case study and in the end, Callum changes the man’s life in the process. The sweetest parts of the book are the relationship Callum has with Angel Rain, a girl he meets in the hospital who is a heart transplant recipient. I had to remind myself often this was a nine-year-old speaking because much of what he says never came out of the mouth of my nine-year-old children or grandchildren (maybe when they were eleven or twelve), yet the story overall is a beautiful reminder of the innocence and strength of a child’s heart. 5 stars.
